RCA FLAT PANEL SOLUTIONS FULFILL CONSUMER DREAMS FOR CLEAN, CLUTTER-FREE FLAT PANEL TV INSTALLATIONS

Management Products Simplify Plasma and LCD TV

LAS VEGAS, January 8, 2007 – Consumers’ dreams of flat-panel TVs hanging on the wall like artwork are often quickly dashed
when they unpack the TV and the installation process begins. The floating TVs from product brochures don’t mesh with the messy bundle of connecting
cables and power strips necessary to accommodate the set-top boxes, DVD players, digital video recorders and speakers that have become part of the
digital entertainment experience.
RCA Flat Panel Solutions has launched a new line of accessories specifically designed to handle the unique needs of flat-panel TV installations. Bulky
connectors, cords and outlet solutions that worked in the days of the tube TV are no longer adequate for today’s design-conscious consumers. RCA’s new
Flat Panel Solutions accessories were designed from the ground up to meet the needs of plasma and LCD TVs and deliver the elegant flat-panel
appearance that consumers have come to expect.
Thin Cables for Flat TV
RCA Flat Panel Solutions cables are flexible enough to mold and fit around the contours of a TV’s back panel, unlike standard round audio and video
cables that are difficult to bend. The thin, wall-mountable cables are designed to flow around the narrow space between an LCD or plasma TV and the
wall.
Flat Panel Solution cables are available in HDMI, component video, stereo audio and coaxial cable versions. HDMI, component, and coaxial video cables
have the required bandwidth to carry high-definition video from a video source component to the TV. Thin coaxial cables offer an easy-to-use and
easy-to-hide alternative to standard round coaxial cables. Each RCA Flat Panel cable is terminated with a gold-plated connector for a high-quality
connection that’s resistant to corrosion. RCA Flat Panel Solutions cables are available in a design-friendly off-white finish that’s easy to conceal.
They can adhere to a wall, can be painted to perfectly blend in with any room’s décor, and can also be used with the new cord management cover
solution described below. Connection cables will be available in 7- and 11-foot lengths, and will range in price from $7.99 to $34.99.

RCA Flat Panel Solutions AC power cords are less bulky than thick conventional power cords. The thin replacement cords fit easily behind a TV,
allowing consumers to mount a TV to the wall without having to accommodate unwieldy cords. Replacement cords will come available in two lengths: the
model FA3PC is 3 feet long with a suggested retail price of $11.99, and the FA11PC measures 11 feet with a suggested retail price of $19.99.
Managing the Wires
Cord management is key to a successful and satisfying flat-panel TV installation with large conventional cables. RCA’s Flat Panel Solutions FA2CC cord
management cover conceals large unsightly cables that run from source components to the TV as well as the new flat panel cables. The cover can also be
painted or covered with wallpaper and mounts to the wall with tape or supplied mounting hardware. The FA2CC straight section cover measures 19 (h) x
5.5 (w) x 0.8 (d) inches, and will have a suggested retail price of $9.99. Model FA1CC is designed to fit into a corner, measures 6.9 (h) x 4.9 (w) x
1.6 inches, and will have a suggest retail price of $6.99.
Power Protection and Conditioning: Two-For-One
Standard outlets and surge protectors weren’t designed to accommodate power cords in tight spaces. The RCA FA2SPC dual-side power conditioner/surge
protector (a two-for-one solution), by contrast, was engineered to address the unique space requirements of flat-panel TVs. The FA2SPC has two
low-profile outlets, mounted on the sides of the box rather than the front, to accommodate power cords in tight spaces behind flat-panel TVs. A
built-in 65db filter blocks electromagnetic interference (EMI) and radio frequency interference (RFI) from 150 kHz – 100 MHz. Surge protection is
rated at 1500 joules. Dual LED indicators show status level of the surge protection circuitry. The dimensions of the FA2SPC are 5.3 (h) x 3.5 (w) x
2.5 (d) inches. The FA2SPC will carry a suggested retail price of $19.99.
Specialty Flat Antenna
An off-air antenna offers consumers a free route to over-the-air HDTV programming, but traditionally antennas have been designed for standard size
TVs. RCA’s Model ANT188 Flat Panel Antenna was tooled for thin-frame plasma and LCD TVs. The adjustable back plate allows consumers to fit the antenna
to the TV frame for a perfect fit. The ANT188 will carry a suggested retail price of $14.99.
The RCA Flat Panel Solutions will be available in April of this year.
