SAFETY RECALL: DRC600N

To maintain the integrity and quality of our products, RCA (Thomson Inc.) must, from time to time, perform recalls for certain products.  Based on a limited number of recently reported incidents, Thomson has issued a recall of the battery for one of its RCA Portable DVD Players (model DRC600N) manufactured and sold under the RCA brand name from September 2002 to July 2003.  The unit's battery can overheat or explode while recharging, which can pose a chemical or thermal burn hazard to consumers.  There have been two reports of burned fingers due to a consumer attempting to pick up a hot battery.

RCA/Thomson is offering a free replacement battery for the affected units.  To begin the process, please submit your contact information by completing the form available below.
Please note that there is no problem with the design or function of your DRC600N unit itself and it is not affected by this recall.  The unit will function properly and safely without the battery using the AC Power Adapter by simply unplugging the battery from the unit and plugging the AC Power Adapter into the 9 volt jack on the unit.  With the replacement battery, the unit will function safely and properly with or without the AC Power Adapter.  In addition, no other RCA DVD Player batteries are affected by this program.
